This plan shows the layout for a sample house wiring plan. Most locations in the house will have a downstream coax feed (feeds incoming video signals such as cable or DSS), and a category 5 twisted pair run providing 4 pairs for phone, infrared and control such as CEBus. These connections will feed video signals to each location from the central management hub. The source for the signal (DSS, cable, CCTV, VCR, Laserdisc) may be selected by remote control. The category 5 twisted pair provides high speed, high reliability telephone signals for voice or data. Additional wires may be used for the infrared remote control.
Select locations may also provide an upstream coax feed (to feed laser disc, VCR or CCTV signals back to the management center for distribution throughout the house), and/or an additional category 5 run for an inhouse (100Base-TX) computer network (LAN).
